How long did it take you to learn to play poker? I learned, as I have said by watching television and it took me about 2 shows to learn how to play and then a year to actually get any good.

It was hand-in-hand kind of learning and playing. I just knew basics of game and started off playing but in the process of playing I was learning simultaneosly.

About how long did it take you to begin winning on a consistent basis?

I've been playing for a few years, but I guess I'm still learning. I don't know if I'll ever win on a really consistent basis

You could learn the basics within a couple of hours probably. I figured out how to play within several rounds of poker. After that it is just fine tuning your skills.

As forgive already said, you can learn the basics on an hour. I think that mastering the art should take a lot of your time. I mean I'm not a master yet, but I'm always practicing my skills. Someday I may become a master myself.

The basics take only an hour or so to learn, it is the real aspects of poker that takes real time to learn.

I know the basics but im way to emotional. That is the biggest weakness in my game and its hard to teach an old dog new tricks.
