Reading hands
How do really good players seem to know what cards you have? Are they reading your body language, how you bet or something else? I'm just curious if I'm giving something away.

Most people have a very easy to read body language. They do something certain when bluffing or when they have really good cards on their hand. A pro can easily read this and take advantage of it. The more you play the more you notice stuff like this also.

i agree with the body language thing.....most of all a cold stare in the eyes reveal it all

I am not good at reading body language when it concerns poker. But I would have to agree that is the way alot of people seem to read your cards. I know my husband plays and there is one person he plays with that constantly runs his hands through his hair when he does really have a good hand.

This is something very difficult and it needs a lot of training to get good at. There are a lot of courses and books that can teach you the art of reading body language. I am not a pro in this field but I have learned some during my years playing.

Well you always have to assume the best possible hand one can have, the betting phases afterward will either prove that you are an idiot betting with nothing or actually have the precalculated cards

I think it is very important to control on your expressions when you play. As said earlier most people do express a lot and that might give some clue on the hands.

Some people purposely show contrasting emotions on their faces to deceive their opponents, but one of the people I know keeps a straight face no matter what and it's very hard to read his face. That is very advantageous.

I really like those people whom Lola has just mentioned. It is very difficult to read those faces so the opponent doesn't have much to read out from the body languages.
