Some book tips

I thought I would share some book tips for players just starting out. Although there are great forums like this one the subject it can be nice to read a book on the topic written by professionals.

I recommend:
The Theory of Poker

If you have any poker book to recommend write in this thread.

I would not suggest any books. Learning poker cannot be done through reading a tutorial book. To learn you must play and gain experience. That is the best way. Sure books can explain things but getting to do those things will help you so much more.

The theory of poker is a book for beginners and I would not suggest it to any exerienced poker player. My opinion in nears yours but I believe when you are first starting out it is good to get some reading done. But of course the best is to learn by playing. But all those extra tricks do not come by itself if you are not a master mind

Well I feel like just knowing the way it is to be played and then learn the tricks and tips by playing more. I would check out for this book but I am not sure how far I would read and learn. I learn more through practicality.

I know it is for beginners but at the same time I still do not suggest books for anybody trying to learn poker. For a new player I would suggest free online poker sites where they can learn the basics. Or they could save their money and go to a poker tutorial site. Everything that is in a book is online somewhere.

The book is really nice for the beginners, but has nothing to do with more- or less-experienced players.
