Poker Popularity

I really notice more people playing poker on their down time where I work. I assume that this is because of the popularity of the televised poker on the sports networks in the last while.

Has anybody here just recently gotten into poker more seriously because of the TV shows?

I wouldn't say that it is because of the tv show but I do know that my husband play poker on his lunch break. I know that when I call him he is always in a rush to get back to the game.

There is not question the game of poker took a boost when they started to televise professional poker tournaments, I think this effects the young audience the most.

However online poker was just on it's rise, and the televised poker tournaments was just one factor.

Online poker is so easy and conveinent that is why it has attracted so many people.

When ESPN started hosting poker tornaments on television the popupularity of the sport quickly grew. Texas Hold em grew faster than any other game with people watching it more than ever before.

TV and the hype about poker the last few years have really made this game grow. I do not think I know a single person that does not play poker in some way.

My friend got recently into poker because he's seen a tournament broadcast on one of the channels. I've tried to get him into it some time earlier, but he didn't want to. So I suppose, television makes poker much more popular.

Yes, in my area that's definitely the one I see the most on TV and during down time at work when my coworkers are playing.

A lot of this game's popularity has come from the fact that a local nobody, online player, Chris Moneymaker was able to win it all a few years ago. It showed that anyone can win and you do not have to be a pro.
