online Poker

An online poker game involves 3-4 players...and perhaps these players may play the game from the same room or in other words they might be known to each other very well...so how does the online poker companies deal with this? How the interest of the game is really protected? How do they track the users?

Through IP. If they were in the same room then their IP would likley be the same. If that was caught then they could probably get banned for cheating.

I do not imagine that they could catch on very easily. Of course if somebody noticed that the same 3-5 people were playing together constantly then they could probably alert an admin. Of course those people would have to be cheating for anything to be done about it.

I know of a private investigator who has a room full of computers all with different IP. As for the same players showing up often in the same game, I notice when I play at tables of 10 I often recognize 4 or 5 of the other players at the table. Does that mean they are cheating? I know I'm not, yet there I am at the table with them.

Maybe online casinos should have software to detect cheating patterns...maybe they already do.

Of course that is a possibility. But do you really think the average person ahs a room full of computers like that? Most people cannot afford that many computers and besides that most would not even know how to get the computers to all have different Ip addresses.

Alot of ppl use different ip addresses for privacy sake. Feeding your information through a different ip is not all that hard and finding out how to do it only takes a simple search.

If need be you can just go find a free, web-based proxy and use that to hide your proxy. I have done it a few times, but never for poker though. I do not feel it is needed.
