I do not think it is extreme, per se, but think that we have strayed very far and that's why it may seem extreme to return to our basic principles. Obviously you and I have different opinions about our foreign policy, but right now America has too many troops where they're not needed. My friends in South Korea agree that troops in the region are unnecessary, and the fact that they got rid of one of the military bases didn't make any difference at all. Sometimes intervention may be necessary, but if we start going around as the world police, that in effect decreases our national security because then we become despised and become a target. Even the approval rates of some of the EU nations have dropped in the past few years. We need to build relationships with other nations, but at the moment the prospect seems dismal.
